My family consists of me, my husband and our three daughters. Two of the girls are mine from a previous relationship and one is my husbands from a previous relationship. My kids are half americans so half of their family is living in USA. This spring, they will have a new cousin over there, so I have designed a baby blanket that we will send as a baby shower gift.
I have used the yarn Soft fun, Soft fun denim and Soft fun aquarel by Scheepjes. It’s made out of 60% cotton and 40% acrylic. I have previosly designed the blanket and pillow called Blue dreams, using the same yarn (you can find the patterns here: http://favoritgarner.se/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Favoritgarner.se-Mönster-Blå-Drömmar-av-@virkvisa.-Original.pdf ) I really like that the yarn comes in three different varietys. One plain colourd (soft fun), one patchy (soft fun denim) and one that is speckled in one colour and white (soft fun aquarel). This gives the finished item life and depth. If you live in Sweden, you can buy it at favoritgarner.se
In the picture you can see two octopuses as well. They are my go to gift to make to most newborns around me. They are also used as comforters for premature babys. The octopus arms remindes of how the umbilical cord feels like.
The octopus to the left is made in the yarn Cotton 8 and the left is made in Sunkissed, both by Scheepjes. If you’re in Sweden, they can be bought at favoritgarner.se
This is a super easy patter. The only things you need to know is how to work single crochet and to count to three. For the edging, you need to know half double crochet and double crochet as well, but you can skip the edging if you want to. I have made the blanket in two different colour combos, Aqua and Jeans.
You will start working with colour 2 and crochet three rows. Change to colour 3 and work 3 rows. Change to colour 1 and work three rows. Repeat until you have 114 rows. All the rows end with a turn chain. This does not count as a stitch troughout the whole pattern. End by crocheting the edge with colour 1.
